What internal communication setup option can I use for GCBA?

When installing Genesys Cloud Background Assistant (GCBA) for capturing agents’ screen recording, administrators can choose how it must communicate (locally) with Genesys Cloud. The following modes are available:

  • Loopback address
  • Microsoft Edge extension

In general, Genesys recommends that organizations use the loopback address communication mode when installing GCBA. However, organizations with regulatory security requirements can avoid using self-signed certificates as Genesys provides an alternative communication mode when installing GCBA. The GCBA Connector Edge extension allows GCBA to communicate with the Genesys Cloud web application via Microsoft Native Messaging.

For organizations in FedRAMP regions, GCBA with the Edge browser extension is recommended.

Note: If you have configured GCBA to use the Edge extension for local communication, users in your organization must also use Microsoft Edge browser for Genesys Cloud.
